Relayed Status

The light Hotspots do not communicate with each over the P2P network, so there is zero concern for relayed status.
No ports (44158/8080/443/1680) need to be opened or forwarded with the new light hotspot update. It's only necessary to be connected to the Internet, and no additional configuration is needed.
Hotspots being Relayed are not directly connected to the internet, but through another Hotspot on the Helium network and can adversely affect mining and earnings. Relayed Hotspots can be identified in Helium Explorer, Helium App, and through the SenseCAP M1 Dashboard as shown below.
Login to your router's admin panel
(ie., 192.168.1.100/192.168.0.1/)
Locate DHCP Reservations/Servers, usually under Local Network
Reserve the internal IP address of your Helium Hotspot and select save.
Below are a list of known manufacturers and tutorials for this step.
Turn off UPnP
If enabled, the router may assign a random port for the Hotspot to connect.
Below are a list of known manufacturers and tutorials for this step.
Open Port 44158 via TCP / Inbound / External
Port 44158 will need to be open to ensure the miner has healthy P2P connectivity and status.
Ensure you are ‘PORT FORWARDING’ NOT ‘PORT TRIGGERING’.
You may put in any name for the ‘Custom Service/Name‘ type.
Ensure only ‘TCP‘ is selected.
Ensure you selected the "Miners IP", for this example, lets use 192.168.0.112, so it is open only on that internal IP.
Below are a list of known manufacturers and tutorials for this step.
You will need to reboot in the following order to ensure the settings have been applied.
Unplug everything (Modem + Router)
Plug everything back in the following order.
Modem ==> Wait until fully online to move to step 2.
Router ==> Wait until fully online to move to step 3.
Helium Miner ==> Optional, only if steps 1 & 2 above do not force new settings.
Many 4G / LTE cellular network providers typically use what is called CGNAT for their data network. If you are using 4G / LTE cellular connection and DO NOT have a static IP assigned by your carrier, you will not be able to get your Hotspot out of "Relayed" status. It will not affect your Hotspot from a technical view, however, it may cause slower syncing and reduce your potential rewards.
It is highly suggested to contact your 4G / LTE cellular provider and request a static public IP address so you may resolve this issue.
You can read more about CGNAT below.
NOTE: Changes made to get out of "Relayed" status may take Helium Explorer and the Helium App up to 24-48 hours to show, but will not affect your earnings.
Changes will be reflected within 5-15 minutes inside the SenseCAP M1 Dashboard.
You should use the SenseCAP M1 dashboard status as the most accurate representation of your networks configuration.
Still Relayed?
If you are still seeing "Relayed" status in Helium Explorer and Helium App, please allow more time for the P2P network to reflect your changes.
This is usually because the IP address shown inside your SenseCAP M1 Dashboard is still showing a P2P address, again, time will resolve this issue.
