Understanding The Dashboard

Once you’ve registered your hotspot to the dashboard, you will find the following (see screenshot below).

You will quickly be able to see all status updates of the hotspot on this page. If you register more than 1 hotspot, they will be added as separate rows.

Simply click the hotspot name or SN to view further details explained below.

What Information You Can Find

The dashboard allows you to monitor your hotspots settings, including CPU temperature, network settings, blockchain syncing progress, and much more. Below is a breakdown of what each setting represents.

Note: The information presented inside the dashboard is updated every 5 minutes. If you update network configuration changes, such as fixing relay status or simply want to see if you are synced, refreshing the dashboard in 5 minutes will provide updated data.

Hotspot Details

• SN: Your registered hotspot serial number.

• Hotspot Name: Name of your registered hotspot on the blockchain.

• Hotspot Online Status: Based on your hotspot.

• Helium Online Status: Hotspot status is strictly based on helium API or ETL API, depending on which P2P data is up-to-date.

• Hotspot Address: The blockchain address of your hotspot. You can click the hotspot address to view your hotspot on the Helium Explorer website.

• Hotspot Owner: Your wallet (whom the hotspot is registered to on the ‘Helium App’) You can click the hotspot owner to view details of your entire account on the Helium Explorer website.

Hotspot Network Configuration Details

• Listen IP: Peer-2-Peer listening IP of your hotspot including last update from local ETL.

  • Expected: This should be your actual physical IP address and port you are listening on ie., /ip/xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/tcp/44158

  • Issue: P2P address ⇒ /p2p//p2p-circuit/p2p/ If your IP is showing a P2P address, please wait a few hours as sometimes there is a delay with connections until your correct IPV4 address is displayed across the entire Helium P2P network.

Do not be alarmed if your status is not updated. The Helium network will need time to pick-up your new IP address and will eventually update.

What Is PeerPing?

• PeerPing: PeerPing provides network activity ping in milliseconds to determine if your connective hotspot is healthy or unhealthy. Generally, lower ping results in excellent and healthy connections and open PORT for 44158.

• Expected: Healthy.

• Issue: Forwarding Unreachable/Unknown.

  • The screenshot below shows unhealthy PeerPing because PORT 44158 is not reachable or a misconfiguration of network settings.

What Is PeerBook?

• PeerBook Inquiry: This tool allows you to check directly with libp2p-peerbook to view your P2P network connections as what is being recorded on the network.

PeerBook Inquiry

This is a library for storing libp2p peer information in a peer-to-peer (p2p) network. The peerbook plays a key role in a p2p network because it maintains a view over time of the peers that are available in the network.

What To Look For In Peerbook

Once clicked, you will see your P2P network address, followed by a name, listen_address, connection, NAT, and last_update. (see screenshot below)

PeerBook Inquiry Results

If you have NAT restrictions, you will see NAT: Symmetric, Static, etc…

• Expected: NAT: None/Open for best results and maximum.

• Issue: NAT: Symmetric/Static/Strict or any other value.

If your UPnP configuration on your network is incorrect, you may see a random PORT assigned, such as '44159'. Please refer to >> Network Configuration.

• Expected: PORT 44158

• Issue: Any other PORT, such as 44159

If your network configuration is incorrect, you will see a random port assigned to your hotspots IP, such as 55698, or 44159, the number varies as your router/network assigns a random port to your hotspot.

If your listen_address is a P2P address, please allow 24-48 hours for updated data. If not resolved after 24-48 hours, please re-check your network configuration (including port forwarding, UPnP, IP reserving, etc...)

• Connections: Active P2P connections.

NAT Types Explained

• NAT Type: None / Open - This is encouraged to achieve the best results, ensuring all P2P connections, PORTS, and network configurations have been applied. Allows all incoming and outgoing P2P connections. This is recommended.

• NAT Type: Symmetric - All requests from the same internal IP address and port, to a specific destination IP address and port, are mapped to the same external IP address and port.

• NAT Type: Restricted - Certain network configurations will not allow your hotspot to perform it's duties, resulting in lower rewards and minimal p2p connections if any.

• NAT Type: Static - Your network settings are based on a static IP address. This is OK.

NOTE: Please do not run multiple hotspots within the same network. All hotspots will eventually end up in 'Relayed Status' as the hotspots will be fighting to connect to PORT 44158 and fail.

• Public IP Address: Your public IP address on the internet given by your ISP.

Additional Hotspot Details Continued

• Relayed: Provides you the current hotspot relay status. [Values: Yes/No]

  • Expected: No - PORT 44158 is open and network configuration is correct.

  • Issue: Yes - PORT is closed and network configuration is incorrect.

    • Please refer to >> Network Configuration.
• Blockchain Synced: Provides information if you are synced to the Helium blockchain.

  • Expected: Fully Synced.

  • Issue: Unknown.

  • Other: Syncing.

    • If you are still syncing, please be patient as it will take some time to download the blockchain data. You may feel free to use TurboSync if you are over +200 blocks behind. We recommend you always sync over an Ethernet cable to ensure proper connection and download speeds. Please refer to >> TurboSync.
• Blockchain Height: Displays your hotspot’s current blockchain height that is synced vs actual block height. (Current/remaining)

  • ie., 1014271 / 1015272 = Hotspot current block synced / actual Helium blocks. This data is updated every 5 minutes.

• Collection Time: Last the data was collected from the hotspot. -UTC7.

• Added to Helium Network: Displays when the hotspot was registered on the Helium blockchain. -UTC7.

• Production Time: Displays when the hotspot was manufactured. -UTC7.

P2P Network Status Details

• P2P Status: Provides the health of your P2P status/connections.

  • Expected: Healthy

  • Issue: Unhealthy

    • If you are seeing an “Unhealthy” status, this means there is an issue with your network configuration for your hotspot.

      • Please refer to >> Network Configuration and ensure you have stable internet connection.
• P2P Inbound: Displays P2P inbound connection status.

  • Expected: Yes

  • Issue: No

    • Please refer to >> Network Configuration and ensure you have stable internet connection.
• P2P Outbound: Displays P2P outbound connections status.

  • Expected: Yes

  • Issue: No

    • Please refer to >> Network Configuration and ensure you have stable internet connection.

Antenna & Region Details

• Antenna: The gain of antenna data is from Helium APP. If you've changed the antenna, you will need to complete the "Update Antenna" process in the Helium APP to show the correct gain here.

• Region: This region is based on the asserted location of the hotspot in the Helium APP.

  • You may not see a "Region" until you assert a location, it may result in "Unknown".

• Coordinates: Displays the GPS coordinates of your Hotspots asserted location.

Additional Details

• Batch Name: Manufactured date of the hotspot.

• Custom Tag: Any custom tag you've associated with this Hotspot.

  • If you are running multiple hotspots in different locations, we’ve made it easier for you to tag each hotspot and sort by tags within the dashboard. Simply add a custom tag to differentiate hotspots between different locations/hosts.

Additional Network Details

• Wi-fi Name: If the hotspot is connected via Wi-Fi, it will display the Wi-Fi name here, if it is connected via Ethernet cable, it will not display anything.

• Wi-Fi IP Address: If your Hotspot is connected with Wi-Fi, you will see your internal network's IP address here.

  • If you would like to TurboSync your hotspot to the latest blockchain height, you must be on the same local network as your hotspot. Click your hotspot IP address and follow the next steps as detailed in >> TurboSync.
• LAN IP Address: If your Hotspot is connected with an Ethernet cable, you will see your internal network address here.

  • If you would like to TurboSync your hotspot to the latest blockchain height, you must be on the same local network as your hotspot. Click your hotspot IP address and follow the next steps as detailed in >> TurboSync.

Hotspot Hardware Details

• Firmware Version: Current firmware version installed on your Hotspot.

• Uptime: Uptime indicates the duration time started from last power-on time of the hotspot, which will be updated when there is internet connection. If we cannot detect a status within 30 mins, the uptime would show NONE.

• CPU ID: The CPU ID # of your hotspots CPU.

  • The CPU ID will be required to enter when you wish to TurboSync your device. You may click the icon to the right of the CPU ID to copy.

• CPU Temperature: Current running temperature of your CPU.

• Fan Status: Displays if the fan is running with date + timestamp of the last status when it was ON or OFF.

  • The fan will automatically turn on when the CPU temperature is above 70℃, and will not turn off until it is cooled down to 45℃.

• CPU Usage: Displays the current usage of the CPU in % units.

• Memory Usage: Displays the current memory usage in % units.

  • Note: Depending on the model you purchase, you may see different memory details.

    • 1900 MB = 2GB Raspberry Pi

    • 3845 MB = 4GB Raspberry Pi

    • 7690 MB = 8GB Raspberry Pi

• SD Usage: Displays the current SD Card memory usage.

  • 58776 MB = 64GB SD card

  • Note: The SD card overwrites itself to allow room for future blocks as it begins to fill up. Do not be alarmed if you reach near capacity.

Hotspot Reward Details

• Hotspot Rewards: Displays your HNT rewards.

  • Last 24H: What your last 24-hour reward was (rolling 24H window).

  • Last 7D: What your last 7-day reward was (rolling 7D window).

  • Last 30D: What your last 30-day reward was (rolling 30D window).

  • Total: Displays total HNT rewarded since online.

There is a complex mechanism for mining and rewards. As long as the networks settings, hotspot placement, antenna, internet connection and hotspot status are in good standing/healthy, the device will perform accordingly. Account Details

After you log-in to your dashboard, you should be presented with a navigation pane on the left side as follows.

Account Details Navigation

• Dashboard: Dashboard home page.

• Hotspot: List’s all your hotspots that are registered.

• Account: Account management page, including API credentials, password resets, etc.

• Activity: Promotions page, which includes unique coupon codes and promotions for you to purchase additional items that are available.
